Instructions Students will write up ONE of their client’s initial and follow up consultations as a case study, including:

  • Case background – A clear, concise summary, including background, client aims/concerns, personal/family medical history, past/present medications/supplements, including dates/durations.
  • Systems review – Including notable signs and symptoms, any test results within last 6 months (conventional/nutritional), dietary & lifestyle assessment, red flags, and required referrals for them.
  • Naturopathic summary – Demonstrating clear understanding of the potential underlying reasons for the client’s presentation, exploring mechanisms and relationships between the following: key drivers (dietary, lifestyle, genetic, medication/nutrient etc., expressed as antecedents, triggers and mediators if you wish), systems under stress, relevance of any tests results, and drawing clear conclusions about the main issues and priorities.
  • 3 SMART therapeutic aims with rationale, linked to the summary.
  • Naturopathic nutrition plan – clear/practical, linked to aims, including specific dietary, lifestyle and supplement recommendations (portions, doses, timings) and rationale. For supplements, outline key ingredients needed/why, then specify product name/brand chosen. Identify any plan concerns/limitations.
  • Follow Up – detail changes to health, key drivers, systems under stress, new concerned flags, updated test results, compliance issues, what worked, what did not, and why.
  • Updated summary, aims and plan – summarise key changes to the naturopathic summary and plan, write 3 updated aims (new or continuing) all with clear rationale about decisions.
  • All sections referenced where possible. State if any aspect is not applicable, to demonstrate it has been considered.
